Obituary

Surrounded by his family at home, Mr. Stevie Lee Meeks entered into his heavenly rest on Thursday, July 25, 2024.  The world lost a beautiful,  GOD fearing man and a loving husband and father who desired to love and protect his family. He was a beautiful example of our Heavenly Father's love for each of us.  He taught his girls to give to others and love others but most importantly, to love the LORD.  He loved his wife and girls fiercely, but he also loved his grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.  He was a great comfort to all his family and had the absolute best sense of humor!  He was a native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County.  He was one of five children born to the late Harvey Washington Meeks and Flossie Bussell Meeks.  He was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1955.  He also attended Brewton Parker College, studying Business Management.  He worked tirelessly for his family for 30 years in Management for J.P. Stevens in Dublin.  He also worked for Pitts Pontiac-Buick and Thomas Auto after leaving J. P. Stevens.

He attended and served at First Baptist Church, Soperton, as a Deacon for many years and Sunday School Superintendent for a short time.  Mr. Meeks was a longtime member and Past Worshipful Master of Harmony Lodge No. 405 F. & A. M., Soperton, GA.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Barbara Ann Meeks, Scellar Steain Lacey of White Plains, Larry Meeks of White Plains, Randell Meeks of Soperton and other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Meeks leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Nell Meeks, children, Angie (Frank) Woodall of Dublin, GA, Suzanne (Jay) Poole of Bogart, GA, and Kim Meeks of Soperton, GA.  Grandchildren Daniel (Hannah) Hall of Dublin, GA, Maria Hall of Dublin, GA, Breanna (Steven) Thomas of Athens, GA, Alex (Emilie) Poole of Athens, GA and Emily (Austin) Haselwander of Greenville, S.C., two great-grandchildren,  Davis and Hadlee of Dublin, GA.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Soperton, GA with Rev. Chad Cofield and Rev. Mark Sweat officiating.

Mr. Meeks will be laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Soperton, GA where Masonic Rites will be observed.

His family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church, on Sunday.

Serving as active pallbearers will be: Daniel Hall, Alex Poole, Randell Meeks, Chris Meeks, Marty Meeks and Byron Lombard.

The members of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class and the members of Harmony Lodge No. 405 will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
