Obituary

Mrs. Tamela Grant - Powell, age 50, formerly of Swainsboro passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her home in Savannah, after an extended illness.

Born in Emanuel County she was the daughter of Brenda Sue Webb and the late Jimmy Lewis Grant.

Tammy grew up in Adrian where she attended and was a cheerleader at Adrian High School. She moved to Swainsboro High School for her senior year from where she graduated in 1984.  While attending Swainsboro High School she was recognized as "Miss Spotlight".  After high school she attended East Georgia College and Georgia Southern where she majored in Business.  In later years she attended Augusta State University where she studied Nursing.  In 2002 Tammy moved to Savannah to be near her family.  After moving to Savannah she worked as an Administrator and Interviewer with Snelling Staffing Services.

Her family recalls her love for her family and the beaches of southeast Georgia.

Tamela had attended the Catholic Church.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John Henry and Edna Rea McGee Grant and her maternal grandparents, Clyde and Niza Hall Stephens.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Powell, Savannah, GA, her mother, Brenda Webb, Adrian, GA, children, Tyler Reid Watson, Savannah, GA, Ashton Lea Odom, Evans, GA, Tanner Dean Grant, Savannah, GA, Austin James Powell, Dublin, GA, Hunter Bond Powell, Dublin, GA, Easton Joel Powell, Dublin, GA, two sisters, Angela Cowart, Savannah, GA, Lea Hogan and her husband, Jack, Savannah, GA, a brother, Johnny Myles Webb and his wife, Rachel, Pooler, GA as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Family services will be held at a later date.
