Mr. Thomas Lee Meeks, age 69, of Soperton died Thursday, December 1, 2016.

Mr. Meeks was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, J. T. and Imogene Weeks Meeks, sisters, Sue Ann Hall and Janice Rogers, and brother, Alan Meeks.  He retired from the US Army after twenty-six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was also a retired school teacher and coach with Johnson County High School, Wrightsville.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Meeks; sons, Ty (Julie) Meeks of Louisville and Thomas Ashley Meeks of Meeks; grandchildren, A. J. Meeks of Soperton, Anlee Meeks and Zachary Meeks of Louisville; brothers, Don (Dianne) Edge and Tony (Donna) Meeks, all of Soperton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4.  Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery, Emanuel County with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
