Mr. Thomas Ellis "Teb" Byrd, age 52, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, May 12, 2016.

Mr. Byrd lived most of his life in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellis and Lillian O'Connor, and Jewell and Lucy Byrd. He was employed with the Department of Corrections for sixteen years and was co-owner of T-Byrd Foods and T-Byrd Vending, Mount Vernon. He was a member of College Hill Baptist Church, Mount Vernon.

Survivors include his children, Alexis Byrd and Jordan Byrd, both of Mount Vernon; parents, Tommy and Virginia Byrd of Mount Vernon; sisters, Ginger (Allen) Morris of Mount Vernon, Wendy (Greg) Lumley of Vidalia, and Linda (Jeff) Maddox of Athens; nieces and nephews, Connor Lumley, Scott Lumley, Jade Morris, Jesslen Morris, Doug Archer, and Drew Archer.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, with the Reverend Ray Wood officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.
