Mrs. Virginia Hopkins Toler, age 88, beloved wife of the late Frank Paul Toler of Soperton passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Friday, August 2, 2024 at their home.
A native and lifelong resident of Soperton, she was the eldest of two daughters born to the late, William Alvie Hopkins and Eunice Cordelia Coleman Hopkins. She was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1954, which was the first class to actually have twelve grades instead of eleven. In 1954 she married Treutlen County native, Frank Paul Toler with whom she shared sixty five years of marriage until his passing in 2020. Miss. Virginia had worked for over thirty years, as a Machine Operator, with Soperton Manufacturing and Woolrich until retiring in the mid 1990s.
She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and read her Bible everyday until loosing her eyesight. She loved Jesus.
Miss Virginia enjoyed fishing, growing flowers (roses were her favorite), gardening, cooking (especially those delicious desserts), watching football, NASCAR racing and spoiling her precious grandchildren. She enjoyed and loved everyone that she met.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, Frank Paul Toler Jr. and a son in law, Lanny Durden.
Mrs. Toler leaves behind, her daughter, Deborah Toler Durden, Soperton, GA, her sister, Utah Hopkins Arrington, Soperton, GA, three grandchildren, Lindsay Durden, Wrightsville, GA, Lance Durden (Lexie), Edgefield, SC, Lacey Durden Edge (Dustin), Soperton, GA, a great grand daughter, Lennon Marie Durden and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, August 5, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Jamey Toler officiating.
Mrs. Toler will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Westview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Lance Durden, Dustin Edge and Jeff Hooks.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 10:00 o'clock a.m. until the hour of service.
