Obituary

Mr. Walter Thomas "W.T." Edge Jr., age 88 of the Kibbee Community of Montgomery County, Georgia passed away peacefully at Community Hospice in Vidalia on Saturday afternoon, the first day of February 2025.  His family was by his side as he folded his hands for his final rest that will last for just a little while.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the last living of nine children born to the late Walter Thomas Edge Sr. and Eva Pearl Cauley Edge.  A lifelong resident of Treutlen and Montgomery County; in 1964 he married Mary Ann Beasley.  At the age of twenty nine, Mr. Edge began a long career in the Textile Industry working with Oxford Industries as a Welder and Machinist until retiring with thirty eight years of service at the time of the plant's closure in 2003.

Mr. Edge enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, cutting grass and being out doors.

He and his wife, Mary, had attended Fellowship Holiness Church in Soperton and the Vidalia First Assembly of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Hillary "Bill" Edge, Gladys Brantley, Floyd Edge, Sue Chavis, Hildamae Ward, twins: Elijah and Elisha Edge, Eddie Edge and Walteen Carter.

Mr. Edge leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of sixty years, Mary Beasley Edge, their legacy in children, Deann Edge, Montgomery County, GA, Denise Rice (Jim), Macon, GA, Reverend Kenny Edge (Karen), Kibbee, GA, Jody Edge (Judy), Alamo, GA, Misty Phillips, Kibbee, GA, eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, the fourth day of February 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with his son, Reverend Kenny Edge and Reverend Troy Maddox officiating.

His family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 pm -  7:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home, in Soperton, or friends and family may call at the family home.
