Mr. Wayne Hutcheson, age 69 of Vidalia passed away on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 at Memorial Health in Savannah.
Born in Toombs County, he was the only child born to the late Trudie Hutcheson. Wayne grew up in Vidalia where he attended school and went to work at an early age at the Kool Aid Factory in Vidalia. He later began a lengthy career in the automotive industry as a Transmission Technician. He worked at the Ford Motor Company in Vidalia for many years and was sought after by many customers as their mechanic of choice. He was sent to various schools and seminars to learn new techniques and bring back a greater level of knowledge than was presently available to service newer models and advanced technology. He acquired a taste of and love for drag racing. He built transmissions for his cars and enjoyed racing himself at the Vidalia airport. He later worked at various independent shops as well as building transmissions for the Treutlen County Sheriff's Department. As his mother's health declined; Wayne stopped working full time to assist with her care.
He had attended and was of the Advent Christian faith.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Foskey Hutcheson, aunts and uncles, Nita Hutcheson Barwick, Eddie Hutcheson, LaVada Hutcheson, Vonnie Haven, Ray Hutcheson and first cousins, LaFay Barwick Mormon and, Jerry Barwick.
Wayne leaves behind, an aunt, Christine Hutcheson, Vidalia, his only first cousin, Murray Barwick, Soperton, GA and several other close cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home.
Wayne will be laid to rest beside his mother in the Hutcheson Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Friday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.
Flowers are accepted or charitable contributions may be made in his memory to Murray Barwick, 257 Carter Street, Soperton, GA 30457.
