Mr. Wilbur Gene "Bill" Joyner, age 74, beloved husband of Brenda Joyce Conner Joyner of Soperton passed away on Thursday morning, March 27, 2025 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia.
Born in Millen, Georgia, he was the youngest of four children born to the late Joseph Johnson Joyner and Margaret Burke Joyner. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany until being honorably discharged. Mr. Joyner had lived and worked in Metter and Cobbtown for a period of time before locating to Macon. He was the plant Manager for Interstate Nuclear Services in Macon that rendered radioactive neutralization support services to local nuclear power plants to include Plant Hatch and Plant Vogtle. He lived in Macon for many years until retiring and coming to Soperton.
Mr. Joyner was a fan of many genres of music but was partial to 70's southern rock and Bluegrass. He enjoyed tinkering, fishing, UGA football, cooking and an uninterrupted evening of COPS on television. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone; whether it be for car repair, heating and air conditioning or any other challenge that he might have a suggestion for.
He leaves behind: his wife, Brenda Conner Joyner, their sons, James "Brent" Joyner (Mindy), Powder Springs, GA, Jody Joyner, Soperton, GA, a sister, Linda Kight, Blythe, GA, two brothers, Harry "Bubba" Joyner, (Judy J.) Millen, GA, Joseph "Fuzzy" Joyner (Suk), San Antonio, TX, his beloved fur babies, Lil Wilp and Deja as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Pulliam officiating.
Mr. Joyner will be laid to rest in Westview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Stacey Smith, Jack Jackson, Matt Price, Gary Cooper, William Wright, Scott O'Quinn, Matthew Price and Donny Smith.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.
