Mr. Zilmon Young, age 88 of East Dublin passed away at Bolingreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Macon, Georgia.

Born in Laurens County, he was one of six children born to the late Henry and Leitha Fulford Young. Mr. Young had worked for the J. P. Stevens Company before retiring. Since 2007 he has served as a City Commissioner for the City of East Dublin.

Mr. Young had been a long time member of Minter Baptist Church where he led the singing for many years as well as at other local churches.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and any activity that took him out of doors.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Frances Wood Young, a brother, Preston Young, a son in law, Phil Tucker and a daughter, Cathy Fordham.

Mr. Young leaves behind, daughters, LaWanda Tucker and Lisa Raffield (Gregg), Macon, GA, Kim Darsey (Jeff), Janet Caraway (Aubrey), East Dublin, GA, his siblings, John Cessum Young (Maggie), Fannie Mae Stewart, Paul Young (Ginger)., all of East Dublin, GA, Nell Maddox (Jake), Milledgeville, GA, several grand and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Sallie McClendon of Rockledge.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Minter Baptist Church with Pastor Ben Edwards officiating.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, at the church, from 2:00 pm until the hour of the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Joshua Raffield, Evan Raffield, Jake Tucker, Zack Tucker, Kevin Wilkinson and Jordan Darsey.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his fellow City Commissioners, Department Heads and Employees of the City of East Dublin.

Mr. Young will be laid to rest in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
